Mike Gao shines brighter than ever on “Sun Shadows” casting a long shadow over many with his latest project. An album well over due for such an innovative member of the beat scene and endless contributor to its technical growth.
Truly embodying what it means to be a beat programer, Mike Gao gives insight into a world only tampered by its conductors and connoisseurs.
“Sun Shadows” is a precise orchestration of Mike Gao’s constant experiments with timing, rhythms and his never ending search for perfection within sound. “Sun Shadows” proves to be a variable beat album that also delivers a more dance heavy sound on songs like “Don’t Fake The Funk” which features Tucson’s funk king Zackey Force Funk and Los Angeles boogie god UOME aka Eddy Funkster. The first single released off “Sun Shadows” was a remix of Isaiah Toothtakers “CRIMEKILLZ X HUMANSUIT” off the Toothtakers full length “ILLUMINATI THUG MAFIA” which features Nathan Noface of Crime and Mestizo of Human Suit. This is an album detailed and dedicated to the advance listener, but a perfect introduction for fresh ears that are used to seeing producers DJing in the background for emcees and who like Mike Gao realized it’s his time to shine.
